Rowan County, NC Housing Commissioner wants to restart the civil war

In Rowan County, North Carolina Housing Commissioner Malcolm Butner is being accused of racism by the NAACP after he made some suspect Facebook posts relating to Black people and the Moral Monday protests that have been happening in North Carolina. Butner posted one message on the social media website that stated that only Black people were attending the Moral Monday protests because white people were too busy working.

“Gee, They are all black. I guess the white folk could not get off because they were too busy working (and) being productive, good citizens.” – Malcolm Butner

The Moral Monday protests have been led by the North Carolina NAACP and other groups and have attracted people of all ethnicities who are not happy with the Republican dominated North Carolina legislature.

In other posts made to his Facebook account, Butner quotes confederates generals and claims the South is still under occupation by the federal government and implores people to fight the Civil War all over again.

Craig Pierce, vice-chairman of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners, said the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development had not completed a formal investigation of the incident but it is not known if they are aware that Mr. Butner is inciting insurrection through his Facebook page.
