The C.O.W.S. Ayi Kwei Armah: Two Thousand Seasons Part II
The Context of White Supremacy hosts the third study session on Ayi Kwei Armah’s revered novel Two Thousand Seasons (1973). This novel was one of Gus’ top five books – it’s likely a favorite of Dr. Marimba Ani also. Last week’s segement dealt with Victims who had been contaminated and used in the subjugation of other Africans – the askaris. Armah writes that it was hoped that these “zombies” could be healed and reincorporated within the black community. Alas, this was not to be. Those who retained fragments of “The Way” decided that relocation would be better than to remain in a hostile environment. They secretly set about preparing for their covert voyage. This week’s session begins in the middle of chapter three. We’ll keep an eye out for explicit details on “The Way” and what black people can and should be doing to permanently solve The Problem – Whites.
