United Nations says cannabis legalization violates international law
As much as many conservatives hate the United Nations and have called for stopping financial support of the entity in the past, they are awful quiet in light of a recent report by the International Narcotics Control Board that says that Washington and Colorado’s legalization of cannabis is a violation of anti-drug treaties. The INCB has been taken to task in the past by Human Rights groups to stop funding anti-drug activities in countries like Vietnam were people are sentenced to death for drug related offences.
Raymond Yans is president of the International Narcotics Control Board and he said on Tuesday that the “INCB reiterates that these developments contravene the provisions of the drug control conventions, which limit the use of cannabis to medical and scientific use only,” he writes. “INCB urges the Government of the United States to ensure that the treaties are fully implemented on the entirety of its territory.”
You would think that people like Rush Limbaugh would be lambasting Raymond Yans over the question of United States sovereignty and take him to task for trying to dictate to Americans what they can and can not do when it comes to telling them that they can not legalize a natural plant that is less harmful than alcohol.
