The Context of White Supremacy hosts the twelfth study session on former South African President Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, Long Walk To Freedom (1994). Gus hopes this will be an opportunity for Victims of Racism to learn more about the region of South Africa and the business operations of White Terrorism in this location during the 20th century. Last week’s segment provided details on the legendary Rivonia trial and the conviction of Madiba and his co-defendants. They were carted off to prison where Racist guards urinated on them, they were forced to break rocks, and physically and spiritually malnourished. White Afriakners terrorized Winnie Mandela’s place of employment and ultimately terminated her. This week, we’ll continue to follow Madiba’s incarceration during what he terms “The Dark Years”, and the global response to the White reign of terror in South Africa. As resistance to Racism increased globally during the 1960’s, increasing numbers of black people outside of South Africa began to identify with Madiba and oppose Apartheid.
