Baltimore Prosecutor Mosbey charges cop with attempted murder of burglary suspect
Several months after the shooting of unarmed burglary suspect Michael John Johansen, one of the Baltimore cops involved was officially charged by Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. Wesley Cagle who is now suspended without pay, turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday.
According to witnesses, after Johansen had been shot by two other officers and was lying on his back on the ground in the doorway of a grocery store when he asked Cagle if he had been shot with a bean bag. Cagle in full view of witnesses stood over Johansen and fired another round into him while calling him a “piece of s**t.
According to WBAL, “Cagle was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and use of a handgun in a crime of violence.”
