The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. As we’ve been told, it’s Christmas Eve. Many non-white people around the world have time away from the plantation in honor of White Jesus’s birthday. Unfortunately, this also means a number of office holiday parties. Even with Covid-19, these tacky events are still happening. In England, Shaun Bailey, a black male, was forced to resign after he was seen in photographs from a 2020 “christmas” gathering with Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s staff. The shindig took place after Johnson and other White public officials prohibited holiday gatherings. Bailey is the only black person pictured in the photograph. He’s also the only person to lose employment or face serious reprimand for attending the party.
