Will Sen. Kamala Harris Take A #MeeToo Hit In The Polls After Filner’s Plea Deal Revelation?

by Scotty T. Reid – Right-wing conservative media is awash with articles about former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, a white male, who is an unregistered sex offender who spent zero days in jail because of a sweetheart deal Sen. Kamala Harris negotiated for him after he sexually assaulted 3 unnamed victims who knew through work employment.
With no explanation for why they are late in their reporting, CNN, MSNBC, and other liberal outlets are seemingly sitting on the story so far. The Senator has been able to overcome her atrocious record on criminal justice issues, prison slavery and upholding wrongful convictions in California by deploying a campaign heavily dosed with identity politics appealing to gender and race.
“Back when she was the attorney general for California, Harris’s office negotiated a plea deal for former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, a Democrat, after the city’s district attorney filed criminal charges against him for his abuse of three unidentified women. Filner agreed to plead guilty to a felony count of false imprisonment and two misdemeanor counts of battery in exchange for a much lighter sentence. Though he faced five years in prison, thanks to Harris’ office he was sentenced to just three months of house arrest, three years’ probation, the partial loss of his mayoral pension, and — at first — a prohibition on ever running for public office again. A judge ended up removing that prohibition and applying it only to the time that Filner was on probation.”
Will the former prosecutor now Presidential candidate be able to overcome these revelations about her own sweetheart criminal justice deals for wealthy white men which in addition to Bob Filnet, include her failure to criminally prosecute Steve Munchin who is now serving as the 77th United States secretary of the treasury as part of the Cabinet of Donald Trump. She has very critical of the deal Jefferey Epistien was given with help from Trump’s former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta.
I suspect the answer depends on how much left-leaning corporate news outlets devote coverage to the story and how hypocritical her fans are willing to be in their support for her campaign.
