Diaspora News: KENYA-U.S. RELATIONS:President Kenyatta to meet U.S. president Trump for bilateral talks
Let’s start in the U.S. where president Donald Trump’s position on the African continent will be under scrutiny when he meets Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta later on Monday.The talks are expected to dwell on security and trade. Kenya is expected to push for an increase in export volumes under the AGOA program that grants African countries duty-free access to U.S. markets. This is only the second time the US president is meeting an African head of state since taking office last year. Trump has has been described as largely unconcerned about the continent. In April he met Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari and tweeted about South Africa’s land reforms last week.
