More help is arriving in the U.S. Virgin Islands where officials hope power will be restored to 90 percent of the territories by Christmas.
Now a black organization is stepping up to help where mainstream groups and the government have failed.
In addition to the federal and state first responders on the ground in the U.S. Virgin Islands and in Puerto Rico – a new organization called the American Black Cross has been helping out in the Caribbean as well. It was formed by civil rights attorney Lee Merritt and his fellow Black Lives Matter activists when Hurricane Harvey roared through Houston in September.
