Today we are joined by author John DeSantis whose true crime book “The Thibodaux Massacre: Racial Violence and the 1887 Sugar Cane Labor Strike (True Crime)” was published and went on sale this month.

John DeSantis was exposed to the mass murder of Black laborers in 1995 after he had begun working for a local paper owned by the New York Times. DeSantis heard that as many as 300 Black workers had been murdered by white people in Louisiana. He decided he wanted to know more and this book is result of his investigation.
