Today we spoke with award-winning filmmaker Ditte Haarlov Johnsen from Denmark who teamed up with cinematographer Minka Jakerson to produce the documentary Days of Hope which will air January 18, 2016 on the World Channel as part of the AfroPoP series The Ultimate Cultural Exchange which is entering season number eight.
Ditte Haarløv Johnsen grew up in Maputo, Mozambique, in a family where both parents were involved in governmental development work. She is a photographer and has exhibited her work in Syria, Canada, Denmark and South Africa. She graduated from the documentary department at the Danish Film School in 2007 with her much-acclaimed film One Day about a Nigerian prostitute in Copenhagen. Days of Hope is Ditte’s first feature-length documentary.
