The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Andrew Heisel. Mr. Heisel is a New Haven, Connecticut resident and freelance writer. His work has been published on Slate, Vice Sports, LA Review of Books, and The Washington Post. We’ll discuss his recent report: The Last Two Minutes of NBA Games: A History of Racism, Money, and Boredom. He submits that the adage that one only need view the last two minutes of a basketball game is a codified way of transmitting Racist concepts. White animosity towards black people in general and black athletes in particular has generated sizable scholarship. The proliferation of black NBA icons caused many White fans to produce (fabricate) any justification for abandoning professional hoops. We’ll see if this is connected to the White dislike of LeBron James and the looming prizefight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
