The depths of dysfunction in immigration detention, as well as Federal forensics have contributed to tens and even hundreds of thousands of people being incarcerated. Today we discuss the recent House Judiciary Committee meeting, where Congress welcomed Director Sarah Saldana, of Immigration & Customs Enforcement. Mentioned in the hearing was the most recent hunger strike held by the women being detained at the Karnes Detention Facility in Karnes City, TX.
Next up, we’ll take a look at the bombshell dropped by the FBI, as they admit their forensic lab’s have misapplied findings related to hair samples for decades. This has contributed to untold thousands of cases where the FBI lab work was used to help prosecutors get convictions. So far, out of nearly 300 cases studied, there have been 14 people who were on death row who were executed, or died in custody.
