American jails are often considered to be among the world’s worst. While jails in countries like Argentina, Turkey and Mexico are bad because of low standards, American jails are made worse by capitalism, green and apathy.
New ideas on how to end mass incarceration. We’ll share them and leave it to you to decide if these are acceptable alternatives to straight up abolishment of slavery and the systems in place to incentivize and support it.
We have told you before about the threat to freedom and of re-enslavement hangs over us- not because people are genuinely or generally “criminal”, but instead mass incarceration rages on and modern day slavery results from hyper-criminalization of the people. Case in point: Nevada is weighing 35 bills that would create new crimes or stiffen the penalties for existing ones.
