Today on the Live Drive @ 5 we will be speaking to Baltimore criminal justice activist and radio personality Christopher Ervin about criminal records and expungements exploring the process and exposing the link to poverty. With a criminal justice system that targets non-white people as seen in the glaring disparities in police stops and arrests, criminal records provide just another tool to practice economic racism. We will also discuss the possible real reasons as to why a rich and successful white male like Mark Wahlberg is seeking to have his violent hate crime convictions expunged by way of a pardon.
Black’s Law Dictionary defines “expungement of record” as the “Process by which record of criminal conviction is destroyed or sealed from the state or Federal repository.”
