Children and child psychiatrist Dr. Frances Cress Welsing has declared that under the System of White Supremacy, black people do not qualify for black mental health. The Context of White Supremacy hosts a forum dedicated to gathering information on how the recent shooting deaths of Michael Brown, Jr., Tamir Rice, Eric Garner and so many other black people have produced a collective trauma. We’ll be joined by the President of the St. Louis Association of Black Psychologists, Dr. Marva Robinson. Dr. Robinson has been providing counseling for black Ferguson residents and aiding them in coping with the daunting reality of Racism (White Supremacy). We’ll get suggestions on how to discuss these events with your children, as well as potential long term damage from these events. We’ll also be joined by the author of Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, Dr. Joy DeGruy. Dr. DeGruy was featured in the documentary film Hidden Colors 3 and is world renown for her insight on how generations of White Terrorism continue to wreak havoc on our behavior.
