Americans giving US government millions of dollars as gifts

According to the Wall Street Journal, a bunch of American suckers are giving money to the US government as gift payments to the US Treasury Department to help pay down the government’s $17.9 trillion-dollar debt. So far in 2014, those gifts have totaled more than 5 million dollars, the second-highest amount since 1996. The highest was in 2012, when Americans gave 7.7 million – and this year still has some time to catch up.
