Court rules in favor of federal judge accused of racist remarks
The Houston Chronicle was the first to report earlier this month that a federal panel of judges dismissed a complaint of racism against a judge who sits on the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas. Edith Jones made her racist comments at a lecture that included law students in attendance prompting the complaint.
Judge Edith Jones was accused of publicly mocking the appeals of the mentally disabled and defendants born in Mexico. She described Blacks and Hispanics as “sadly” more likely to commit crimes with no regard for widely acknowledged racial profiling and prosecution of crimes.
