The Context of White Supremacy hosts the sixth study session on Richard Williams’ 2014 publication, Black & White: The Way I See It. Mr. Williams is the parent of two of the greatest tennis champions in history, Serena and Venus Williams. Mr. Williams is not a beloved black patriarch of the White-dominated tennis circuit. He’s regularly lambasted – even accused of “rigging” matches between his two child icons. Mr. Williams’ autobiography praises the extraordinarily constructive influence of his black mother – Ms. Julia Metcalf Williams – as well as his childhood in the south. Last week’s installment detailed his routine beatings and violent confrontations with black gang members in Compton, California. Mr. Williams deliberately chose to plant seeds in a crack-infested war zone (designed by Racists) so that Venus and Serena would be tough, unflappable warriors. This week’s session offers greater insight to the core values Mr. Williams instilled in his children as players and champions. All discussions about the spiritual/religious beliefs of the Williams’ family shall be concluded unambiguously. We’ll also get additional insight on the infamous Indian Wells incident from 2001; the Williams sisters have abstained from returning to this event since abhorrent conduct they experienced more than a decade previously. This text continues to offer a wonderful illustration of #BlackSelfRespect
