CHAIRMAN FRED HAMPTON STREETZ PARTY
(Chicago, Illinois), – 08/30/14 – The annual Chairman Fred Streetz Party in commemoration of the birthday of Chairman Fred Hampton of the Black Panther Party, will begin at 12:00 pm high noon at 2337 W. Chairman Fred Hampton Way (Monroe), Chicago, Illinois. Come dressed to drill for the Chairman Fred Casting Call/Film Shoot. Movie filming will depict the life of Chairman Fred Hampton and Defense Captain Mark Clark’s assassination, two Panther Party members assassinated in Chicago, Illinois at 4:30 am on December 4th, 1969.
As it was in life, it remains in legacy; the attack on the struggle for self determination -led by then director of the F.B.I., J. Edgar Hoover, who deemed the Black Panther Party to be the number one threat to internal security of the United States – continues today.
How was the Black Panther Party an internal threat? By providing the first Free Breakfast programs Free Medical Clinics, and many other survival programs that provided vehicles for the people to fight in their own interest.
Chairman Fred Hampton organized the original Rainbow Coalition that brought people across diverse racial, political, gender and class interests to fight together on specific points of unity.
People/Extras will wear 1960’s attire throughout the day. Special guest shall include former Black Panther Party members and survivors of the infamous December 4, 1969 massacre on Monroe. Those guests include the widow of Chairman Fred Hampton, Akua Njeri; and the son, Chairman Fred Hampton Jr., who will provide a special report from Ferguson, Missouri in response to the aftermath of the police shooting of Michael Brown.
