P.O.P. marches against police brutality into MLK Weekend!
On Sunday, January 19th, the People’s Organization for Progress will march with the Irvington Branch of the NAACP, New Black Panther Party, the Newark AntiViolence Coalition and others to demand justice for Irvington resident, Abdul W. Kamal!
An unarmed Kamal was gunned down on November 11th near his Irvington by several Irvington police officers!
• He was shot ten times with his hands in his sweatshirt pockets.
• He was only 30.
• January 19th would have been Kamal’s 31st birthday!
Participants will assemble at Irvington Town Hall in Civic Square at 2pm and march to the site of the incident near Kamal’s home…

On Monday, January 20th, the People’s Organization for Progress will host its annual ‘March for Racial Equality, Economic Justice and Peace,’ in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Participants will assemble at Broad and Market Streets, downtown Newark at 3pm. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia.
