The world over people are celebrating the birth of Christ. Many will be giving gifts and having holiday feast in celebration with friends and family. In the next couple of days there will be news about how well merchants did this Christmas season and then the day will be forgotten as people will look forward to celebrating the New Year.

This leads to me believe that many have forgotten the true purpose of Christ's birth and mission on behalf of all of mankind. The true purpose of Christ was to bring forgiveness and redemption to mankind the greatest gift of all.

In making this point, I hope that all will reflect on the following teachings of Jesus and remember that you have the power to forgive and should strive to be at peace with ALL of mankind. If only for a day, let us be resolved to forgive any and all who we think have done us harm. Let us set aside our religious, political and cultural differences if only for this day.


Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God."

Matthew 5:43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Mark 9:50 "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other."

Luke 6:27 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."
