Letter to the Editor Against Exclusion of non residents not being
allowed to speak at Pittsylvania County, Va meetings!
Let me very clear! Pittsylvania County did not think this amendment
out thoroughly before adding it to its by-laws. I believe a little
more research needs to be done on the constitutionality and the
complications this amendment presents. I would like to commend Coy
Harville for speaking out against this law and seems to be the only
cognitive and objective voice on the Board of Supervisors. We may
have different political allegiances but I am impressed with this guy.
He asks questions and looks for empirical research on different
County issues that is brought up at meetings. However, we do not agree
about everything, but we do on this political issue!
Secondly, A county with a good population of elderly citizens and many lack transportation. A significant representative sample are no longer able to attend meetings because of being shut in, sick, or disabled. You are shutting out their voice and this is simply something I will not stand for at all. I will find any and every way to have this amendment overturned and thrown in the trash. I have proven my point along time ago and even recently that I will fight you tooth and nail over any violations of Freedom of Speech and any Civil Rights violations that your County can come up with. Its a new day ladies and gentlemen and you either going to vote in the same problems that never get fix or you are going to put in place those that are there to have accountability, transperancy and responsibility in local govvernment.
The whole County is suppose to have representation for the people and not just for some special citizens. Some have not made their caregivers registered agents. With the state of Pittsylvania County and the way it stands now, it is clear that this amendment was meant to target the very ones that would pull the cover back on their secrets of mismanagement and abuse of police power. People need representation and should allow outsiders to speak at County meetings, in regards to issues that effect other jurisdictions, such as Uranium Mining. People should have every right to speak on the possible pros and cons of such an endeavor locally and nationally. Furthermore, this is prior and constructive knowledge that the amendment is vague and broad. Once again! The amendment was not thought out and I hope the County attorney has given "prior and constructive" knowledge over the conflicts of such legislation.
Moreover, Im tired alongside Mr. Harville about public officials throwing away money
without looking at the figures and getting credible information. There are a bunch of people working for Pittsylvania County that has no clue about what they are doing. When you lose funds without any good explanation. Like any business or corporation, they do not just charge or hold responsible just one person, they fire everyone that had any oversight or supervisory responsibility in regards to the matter. The first person should be let go is the County administrator for his continuous lack of foresight and accountability that goes on with the wreckless spending and mishandling of funds that goes on under his watch.
Moreover, local schools suffer while those responsibile for the shortfall and cuts in funding are not held accountable. Superintendent McDaniel had it completely right that they was not responsible for the funds nor should they be penalized for the abuse that came from another Department. The County has made citizens so frustrated and confused about government responsibility and accountability. Now, since the majority of their time was spent in this direction of "confusion tactics," than why are they surprised that the confusion has themselves not knowing where, when, what, and who to go after in regards to this type of irresponsibility. Maybe, McDaniel or Corville should become interim County Administrators so that this big pile of mess can start being cleaned up. The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors and its staff should be ashamed of themselves making children suffer for adult wrecklessness.
In Conclusion, What about the Towns of Chatham, and others that encompass Pittsylvania County in regards to this amendment. Our citizens pay taxes to Pittsylvania County and the Town of Chatham. Under your narrow minded amendment then they can be excluded as well. If the actual reading is meant for only Pittsylvania County citizens and no one on your Board probably thought about adding amendments to reflect that duo citizens are allowed to speak. Remember, their is one mile of the Town of Chatham, under its and Pittsylvania County jurisdiction. Does the Board want to say those citizens can not speak as well. When their is so many secrets and bad policy decisions than it seems that Pittsylvania County government official practice in the custom of exclusion of voices, information and knowledge to its citizens is the best way to keep calm on controversial issues and resolutions. However, it is the citizens of Pittsylvania County that need to be more involved now, than if ever. The possibility of Uranium Mining is not effecting your children and future generations right now. It is the bad policy decisions coming from your elected officials that is causing deterioration of population growth, attracting businesses, and education in the area. Furthermore, it equals vital resources and funds being spent on personal endeavors that does not benefit the health, safety, moral and general welfare of its citizens. Might as well call Pittsylvania County, the blank check that keeps on giving!

There will be no justice for the family of Ramarley Graham unless another indictment against NYPD Officer Richard Haste is issued by another grand jury. Ramarley Graham is a teen who was shot in his grandmother’s bathroom while allegedly trying to flush a small amount of marijuana down the toilet. A Bronx judge tossed the indictment of the officer who shot and killed Graham claiming he had a gun but none was found. Citing mistakes…

The inquiry into the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya by conservatives to this point has been little more than an expression of white supremacy and political theater. What the inquiry is saying is that only "American" lives matter and not the lives of the thousands killed in Libya or those that are still being killed and displaced from their homes due to ethnic cleansing by forces backed by the United States. The…
