On May 15, 2012, Merle T. Rutledge Jr, a Norfolk State University
alumni and civil rights activists, filed for his candidacy for Mayor
of the Town of Chatham, Va. Merle T. Rutledge Jr believes in a open
door policy of government that is transparent and more inclusive of
the community needs. Merle T. Rutledge Jr believes that the Town of
Chatham, Va should have a resolution that bans Uranium Mining. He also
believes that the Town should focus more on transportation and working
with out localities and Pittsylvania County in starting to seriously
take a approach into bring bus services for its citizens for business,
work, or even to get out the area.
Mr. Rutledge believes that the Town of Chatham should start
becoming more independent of Pittsylvania County while working along
with them to accomplish mutual goals that will better serve its
citizens. It is a time for change and Merle Rutledge Jr has the
energy, time, and ability to make Chatham, Va ready for the 21st
Century while still respecting, restoring, maintaining, and honoring
its History. My campaign spokeswoman is Nancy Massenburg at
(919-400-2033) and she will be handling any questions and concerns of
the citizens and Mr. Rutledge and his campaign staff will make sure
your issues and concerns are address with a very timely response.

The…
