Adam Greene was going into diabetic shock, weaving through traffic lanes early in the morning on October 29th, 2010.
Police thought he was intoxicated – a reasonable suspicion given the circumstances and the fact that it was 4 AM.
This is what happened next:
Lawyer’s for Greene released the video this past Tuesday. On the same day, the “Henderson City Council approved a settlement of $158,500 for Greene. His wife received $99,000 from Henderson, which is just under the minimum amount that requires council approval,” according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The police response in the above video is obviously excessive, even if Greene had turned out to be drinking and driving.
Police pull him from the car, cuff him, throw him to the ground and pile on top of him. One cusses at him. Others shout for him to stop resisting arrest as he flops in a daze on the pavement.
Only later do they realize their mistake. “Call in medical,” one officer says. “We found some insulin in his pocket. … He’s semiconscious.”
“Let’s get medical out here. He’s a diabetic, he’s probably in shock,” the officer tells dispatch.
This is not as uncommon a phenomenon as we’d like to believe.
The War On Cameras
This video was taken from a highway patrol vehicle. But with the rise of smartphones and mobile cameras, videos like this are becoming far more common. Government officials are trying to figure out how to respond.
Too often, the response is to arrest and jail people who take video of arrests or police abuses. Sometimes police try to erase videos taken by journalists or citizens. This doesn’t always pan out.
Police are now operating under increased scrutiny as technology makes it harder and harder to operate under the cloak of anonymity. This is a good thing. FULL STORY

On April 26, 2012, several defendants could be sent to prison for what they did outside a government facility on November 29th last year, prior to the police arriving and catching them in the act. Sounds like a gang of terrorists caught red-handed, doesn’t it? But words, like appearances, can be deceiving. These were no terrorists. And they weren’t gangsters either.…

My Prosecution - On May 1st, 2012 I go on trial in Burlington County Superior Court before Judge Delehey. In most cases a defendant is told not to talk about the case, the facts and follow attorney advice to keep quiet. In my case I refuse to keep quiet, I’m telling the facts and I’m representing myself. While most defendants are afraid; I’m looking forward to…

Most Philadelphians believe that violent crime is the city’s biggest problem. As a result, you might think severe punishment for anyone who illegally possesses a gun—regardless of whether the person committed a separate non-violent crime with it—is part of the solution. Mere unlawful possession, you’d argue, is enough to warrant mandatory imprisonment. No probation. No fine.…
