Are You Truly Concerned About America's Future Or Are You Just Postering?

Calling on all bloggers to blog about bi-partisan legislation to cure one of the major problems with our financial system that causes the Nation to sink deeper and deeper in debt everyday. I have to wonder, where is Micheal Steele's leadership, where is Howard Dean? Where are the political pundit talking heads on this? Call them, write them, email them, this Bill needs widespread attention and support instead of constant political bickering and partisanship! We have a golden opportunity to find… Continue

Funds Needed To Protect Southern Border Says National Guard

While Rush Limbaugh and his merry band of loud mouth losers pray for President Obama to fail. They are missing a golden opportunity to have one of their issues addressed concerning the security of the southern border. President Obama and his homeland security chief have said additional resources will be sent to to assist in securing our border with Mexico which is plagued with violence associated with drug cartels and smuggling routes. While the goal is to stop drugs from entering the U.S. and… Continue

Socialist Walgreens Provides Free Health Care To The Unemployed - Boycott Now!

I can see the radical conservative blog headlines now, "Walgreens Giving Free Healthcare - Proof America Is Turning Into A Socialist State - Boycott Walgreens". Perhaps Glenn Beck will burst into tears as he reports on this proof of the downfall of capitalism in America.

AP: Walgreens giving free care to jobless and uninsured

Drugstore operator Walgreens will offer free clinic visits to the unemployed and uninsured for the rest of the year, providing tests and routine…

Glenn Beck Says AIG Managers Earned Bonuses

Scotty Reid

Is Glenn Beck A shill for corporate America? It certainly appears so by his comments to the Connecticut Attorney General. Typical of most political hacks, Beck asks questions and then interrupts before the AG can answer. While the radical conservatives have in the past condemned the payouts of hundred of millions of dollars in bailout money to AIG executives in their criticism of the Congress and the Obama Administration, they then turn around and defend the bonuses being… Continue

U.S and Iran Envoys Meet

According to a BBC news report, Richard Holbrooke and Mohammad Mehdi Akhoondzadeh met and talked while both were in attendance to meeting in The Hague about Afghanistan. The two men reportedly agreed to keep in touch. This is probably much to the chigrin of radical conservatives who balked at the ideal that President Obama would meet with enemies as well as allies as he stated during the 2008 campaign. President Obama has also taped a televised holiday greeting to the government and people of… Continue

If Disgruntal Conservatives Really Want To Do Something.....

Instead of driving up the price of Lipton Tea with their outdated useless and juvenile "Tea Parties", conservatives angry about bailouts and mounting debt, most of which was accumulated under their man George Bush, should get behind Republican Ron Paul's effort to pass legislation to audit the non-governmental institution that gave the first bailout without Congressional approval to AIG. The Federal Reserve is not part of the United States Government despite the fact that Republicans and… Continue

America Needs Black History Month

1964 - 1984 - 2009

“The strength of the United States is not the gold at Fort Knox or

the weapons of mass destruction that we have, but the sum total of the education and the character of our people" Claiborne Pell (1918 - ).

The strength of Black History Month (BHM) is the opportunity for us of color to express their commonality and connection with each other. Regardless of the shades and tones of our… Continue

Innocence Project: Major Legislative Victories in Two States

The Innocence Project helped secure major breakthroughs in Mississippi and South Dakota. Both states passed laws granting post-conviction access to DNA testing, leaving just four states in the nation without such laws.

When the Innocence Project began working in 1992 to overturn and prevent wrongful convictions, not a single state in the country had a law allowing prisoners to seek post-conviction DNA testing. Today there are 46 states with DNA access laws.

On March 16,… Continue

New York's Rockefeller drug laws hurt communities of color. Even though you don't live there, you can help!

NAACP:

New York State's Rockefeller drug laws mandate extremely harsh sentences for sale or possession of even small amounts of drugs. Like similar laws in other states, the Rockefeller laws disproportionately discriminate against people of color.

We've been working with our New York State Conference to repeal the Rockefeller drug laws, which, since 1973, have incarcerated thousands of low-level drug offenders and committed over 4,000 people to long prison terms for simple… Continue

WHAT CHANGE?

As Obama takes over the presidency of the United States, Horace Campbell contextualizes an Obama presidency in the realities of Africa and the ongoing global finance crisis. He argues that "capitalism should not be reconstituted and rebuilt on the backs and bodies of Africans." For Campbell, the crisis is not simply a cyclical crisis of capitalism; it is a fundamental shift in the global political and economic order. In light of this fast… Continue

Attorney General Eric Holder Installation Ceremony Remarks

Ours is a nation of laws, guided by principles that reflect the essential goodness of the American people. Many of these values – adherence to the rule of law, equality before the law, and the applicability of Due Process – are as well-known as they are timeless. And yet, these principles can only truly be the animating force of our legal system if we, both individually and collectively, make it so. That is why, Mr. President, I pledge to you, to my fellow Department of… Continue

H.R. 40, The Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act

H.R. 40 would acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865 and it would establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery, subsequently de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African-Americans, and to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies.

SBA Full Of Corruption - Investigation Shows Companies Ripping Off Millions Of Dollars Intended For Poor Areas

Rush Limbaugh says there is class warfare in America, the rich against the poor and that poor people are simply envious of rich people. He is right, there is class warfare with the haves ripping off the government for millions of dollars meant to encourage entrepreneurship and start small businesses in poor and middle class under-developed regions of the country.

UK Police To Investigate Torture Allegations In Connection To Bush Adminstration Policies

Uncovering the criminal actions that occurred under Bush's neo-con policies isn't being left up to the Obama Administration and whether or not they will declassify documents related to violations of International law. Other countries allied with Bush in his "War on Terror" are doing their own investigations and hopefully this will prevent the Obama Administration from sweeping the prior administration's criminal misdeeds under the rug.…

The Lunatic Fringe of the American Political Landscape

From Think Progress:

During a Saturday interview with WWTC 1280 AM flagged by Smart Politics, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) slammed President Obama’s cap and trade plan, warning that it would have “the impact of forever changing our country.” She was particularly incensed that the bill was meant to address global warming, which she flatly denied was a human-caused problem:

Watermelon Basketballs, Gold Chains & Old Spice Swagger

Download MP3

Charles Lowman of NuVibe Radio joins us tonight to discuss the Syrius Institute of Learning - Dominican Republic which is seeking "to provide supplemental education to under-privileged children and to promote sustainability through adult education programs.". If you would like to contribute to this fund raising campaign you can find it on indiegogo where you will receive a thank you gift tailored to your contribution.

What does Watermelon Basketballs and Gold Chains have to do with deodorant? The Black Talk Media Project is asking that question. We expected suspected racist white people to defend the Old Spice commercial which aired during the NBA Finals last night but while not surprising, African-AMERICANS are failing to recognize the racial undertones of the not only the commercial but its placement.

In political news, a recent SCOTUS case resulted in the further erosion of so-called "civil rights". The US Supreme Court has ruled in a 5-4 decision in the case Salinas v. Texas, that your right to remain silent can be used against you in a criminal trial should you be charged with the crime for which you are being questioned by police. Texas Prosecutors in the case argued that Salinas’ silence during a police interview prior to his arrest was a “very important piece of evidence” and that only a guilty person would have remained silent when questioned about his connection to a crime. Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the majority opinion that Salinas “was required to assert the privilege in order to benefit from it,” even though a person questioned while under arrest could not have his silence used against him.

Tonight we will be joined by Mr. J. Jondhi Harrell and Mr. Glenn Davis from "Decarcerate PA" which back in May held a march in Pennsylvania to demand a people's budget that invests in communities and not prisons. Judging from the participation in the march, it was successful in raising public awareness about 21st Century Slavery and Human Trafficking.

"Decarcerate PA is a grassroots campaign working to end mass incarceration in Pennsylvania. We demand that PA stop building prisons, reduce the prison population, and reinvest money in our communities."

After we speak with Mr. Harrell and Mr. Davis we will share some of the latest news related to 21st Century Slave and Human Trafficking and open the phone lines for a general discussion on the issue.

World Star Hip-Hop has built a media platform that has become a clearinghouse for the worst of “Urban America” according to a recent Change.org petition created by Supreme Understanding of Supreme Design Publishing.

The petition says, "There are some things that we all should know are wrong. Things like sexually exploiting minors or the mentally ill. The administrators of WorldStarHipHop.com apparently do not share these standards of human decency."

Supreme Understanding will join us tonight along with Scotty Reid of the Black Talk Media Project and members of the Militant Mind Movement on Militant Minded Radio to discuss this issue and why the Black community should be involved in this campaign to stop the exploitation of our most vulnerable people.

240,000 turn out to protest bus fare and police brutality in Brazil - 5:00 PM EST

5:00PM EST

Massive protests have been going on in Brazil for over a week as the 99% take to the streets in protest over the raising of bus fare in that poor see as means for the rich to pay for a sports complex. A video of eight cops giving a reporter a Rodney King style beating caused even more Brazilians to take to the streets.

There has been very little in-depth coverage by the mainstream of PFC Bradley Manning's trial. "Bradley Edward Manning is a United States Army soldier who was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed classified material to the website WikiLeaks." We had an opportunity to catch up with one reporter who has been providing in-depth coverage and you can tune in today to hear our interview with journalist Alexa O'Brien. You can follow Alexa's reporting on her website and follow her on Twitter.

In Spartanburg, SC, a group of families confronted Sheriff Chuck Wright over the cases of men who were killed where it was ruled self defense. One mother, Darlene Smith questioned Wright over her son's case who was shot in the head along with another man. Michael Deangelo Gentry-Hill and Darren Hill were both shot in the head allegedly while attempting to break into an apartment. Neither of the two were armed when Douglas Williams confronted them outside his apartment instead of waiting till the men entered the apartment or allowing the police who were called to get there and investigate the alleged crime.
