On August 17, 2009 Mitrice Richardson was released from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station at 12:28am after her arrest. She was reportedly on foot, with no phone, no money and no means of caring for herself. She was in a compromised mental state and no one from law enforcement felt it necessary to take care of her.
I continue to question why any individual would be released in the middle o
f the night? The station deputies/jailer knew she had no money and had not made contact with anyone to give her a ride. They knew the area and they knew she was at risk of potential harm.
Today I am hurt and angry and my hope is that the officers responsible for her arrest and release are feeling as much pain as the friends and family of Mitrice Richardson. I hope that guilt prevails and someone comes forward to admit wrong doing. My wish is that one of these officers would reach out and at the very least say that it was wrong to release Mitrice in the way that she was released.
My greatest hope is that Mitrice is Resting in Peace and that justice will prevail.
