The Obama administration is catching more heat for its use of drones to kill "suspected militants" in an extrajudicial fashion. It has been reported that Nobel Peace Prize winning President Obama and others in the executive branch are acting as the judge, jury and executioner of individuals who have not been afforded any kind of true due process. The President is reported to keep a "kill list" in his pocket.
The Obama administration simple labels someone a "militant" and takes him or her out.
A new report shows that civilians have been heavily targeted in Pakistan and resentment towards America is on the rise and President Obama is being blamed for squandering the goodwill of billions of people around the world who viewed his election as a sign of change in US Foreign Policy.
Sadly, this has not been the case as the Obama administration has not only defended the policies of George W. Bush in court but has expanded on those polices spreading death and destruction around the world.
Watchdogs have also revealed that the increasing use of drones in Africa has been shrouded in secrecy and that the drone attacks not only violate International Law but posing a risk to aircraft.
UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism, Ben Emmerson said he is preparing a report on the issue scheduled for release in March 2013 but yesterday said, "The US must open itself to an independent investigation into its use of drone strikes or the United Nations will be forced to step in."
