Ending the Drug War w/ William Cooke
3/28/2012 - 8:00 PM EST
Our newest media partner, NuVibe Radio's Charles Lowman will join me briefly tonight at the beginning of the broadcast to give us details on their Spoken Word Contest "Black in America ..For Real!"
Former Prosecutor William Cooke will join me on the program tonight to discuss ending Drug Prohibition. Another aspect of the Trayvon Martin story is that he was suspended from school for an empty bag of weed according to reports. Would he have been suspended for an empty bag if he had been enrolled in a "private school".
William (Bill) Cooke witnessed firsthand the impact the "War on Drugs" had on many young people during his four years as a prosecutor with Maryland's Attorney's Office for Baltimore City. Kids as young as eleven years old, arrested for possession or sale of drugs, were processed through the system so hastily, he says, that the courtroom became a mere training ground for their criminality as adults, if they lived that long. "No one ever believed it did the kids any good," Bill says. "It was a joke and a bad one at that."
Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) is a non-profit organization -www.CopsSayLegalizeDrugs.com - formed by cops, judges and others in the criminal justice system who believe the War on Drugs has been an expensive failure that has only made our nation's tragic drug problem worse.

There will be no justice for the family of Ramarley Graham unless another indictment against NYPD Officer Richard Haste is issued by another grand jury. Ramarley Graham is a teen who was shot in his grandmother’s bathroom while allegedly trying to flush a small amount of marijuana down the toilet. A Bronx judge tossed the indictment of the officer who shot and killed Graham claiming he had a gun but none was found. Citing mistakes…

The inquiry into the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya by conservatives to this point has been little more than an expression of white supremacy and political theater. What the inquiry is saying is that only "American" lives matter and not the lives of the thousands killed in Libya or those that are still being killed and displaced from their homes due to ethnic cleansing by forces backed by the United States. The…
