In a statement publish on the National Association of Black Journalists website specifically addressing Martin’s suspension; the NABJ seemed to take a neutral stand. The statement which totals only 80 words reads,
"This is a teachable moment for all journalists. We are reminded that what we communicate in print and broadcast - and now through social media - has considerable power. NABJ does not support any commentary in any medium that is insensitive or offensive.
Mr. Martin is one of our most committed members. In lieu of his presence on CNN, until this matter is resolved, we encourage the network to continue to present a diverse offering of voices in its programming."
Was Roland Martin discriminated against by CNN? When you look at two recent cases involving offensive statements made by other CNN contributor, there is one glaring difference. What does the NABJ stand for if not advocating for its members?
It did not take long for election fraud to rear its ugly head and we haven't made it to the general election. It appears that a Romney supporter may be linked to conspiracy to not count results from postponed caucuses in Washington County, Maine. By not counting those results, Maine republicans practically handed Romney the statein a close race between him and Ron Paul. The media and Republican establishments quickly called Romney the winner.
With the passing of Whitney Houston, so went a performance standard and one of the most talented voices ever, who are Black America's brightest entertainment stars? Contrast Whitney's persona which was clean, fun but sometimes exuding a sophistical sexiness with today's top black female performing artists.
Contrast some of the late pop Diva's Grammy performances with that of Nicki Minaj's halloweenesque and just plain wierd performance last night. The rapper trying to transcend rap, tried her hand at singing and even spoke in tongues. Come on, really Nicki? What is up with the Pope impersonator?
